Alberta Hunting Draws Last Day

Today, June 23 2011 is the last day for 2011 that you can purchase and apply for your Alberta hunting draws here: https://www.albertarelm.com/wc.user.Login.page

Alberta has a different system than In British Columbia for their draws. In Alberta you earn priority points which is a good system, so year after year you get closer to obtaining your tag.

As a BC resident I can apply for certain Alberta hunting oppertunities through the host hunter program. I have a friend in Alberta that "sponsors" me so if I go hunting I need to be with him. Having a host hunter allows me to obtain a Wildlift Identification Number in Alberta so I can participate in the draw system.

This year I wanted to apply for antelope, elk, white tail, and mule deer but appearantly there were too many non-residents that purchased draws already as that was the computerized message I got when I tried to purchase the draws. The only draw I was able to purchase was for sheep in the rock mountains. I already have a few priority points for sheep so we will see how this year goes.
